★Your name?
Olivia

★When did you start drawing?
Technically I first started drawing when I was like 4 years old. The things I drew...well they looked sort of like retarded versions of Kris Wilson's stick figures (of course I didn't know of him back then). But I didn't really get serious about it till around 5th grade or so.

★Which hand do you use for drawing?
Right. Though if given the chance, I would train myself to be ambidextrous

★Which is easier to draw - male or female?
Males, simply because I draw them more often. I CAN draw women, but takes me longer because boobs are a lot more difficult than you would think.

★Which is easier to draw - long hair or short hair?
Long hair. I think because I like it a little more. It's usually my first impulse to draw long hair unless its fanart of a character with short hair.

★Is it easier to draw the head facing towards the right or the left?
The left, definitely. I think it might have something to do with being right handed.

★Is it easier to draw the side view of the face or the front view?
The front view. Noses, brow ridges, lips and chins really mess me up when I'm doing side view. And I keep putting the eye in the wrong place. I'm getting better at it, though.

★What do you have problems in drawing?
Animals, dynamic poses, genitalia, inanimate objects and feet

★What do you like to draw?
I looove drawing extremely skinny, tall men. Usually androgynous. And I love drawing hands, because they are so elegant and have so many different shapes, I never get tired of it.
I also like drawing tongues.

★Are you a traditional artist or a digital artist?
Both. It depends though: during the school year, I'm traditional because I sketch in class a lot, but during the summer I've been spending more time on the computer so I'm more digital right now.

★Where do you start drawing from?
Always start with head shape.

★What is your drawing habit that you are aware of?
I move my arms in odd angles when I'm drawing. I don't think to move the tablet, I move the canvas or my arms. And I press my tongue against the back of my teeth whenever I'm concentrating really hard.

★What do you keep in mind when you do lineart?
The lines. Must. Be. Clean.
I obsess over having clean lines, especially with digital art.

★Any tips for coloring/shading?
Well, I really just do flat coloring mostly...I don't really know how to shade or add tones properly but I want to learn someday (so if YOU have tips for ME, please comment lol)

★How long does it take to finish a piece of art?
Obviously it depends on the details, subject and my general surroundings/situation. It can take anywhere from 5 hours (consecutively) to three days (inconsecutively)

★What music do you listen to while you draw?
Anything really, depending on my mood or how long its been since I've heard a particular type of music. Lately I've been listening to a lot of Indie/Alternative and Speedcore/GABBA (HUGE difference I know lol)

★How long does it take you to come up with an idea?
If I'm really trying to come up with an idea, it can take anywhere from several hours to a whole day.
But I usually get ideas when I'm not trying.

★Your favorite drawing utensils?
For traditional drawing: 0.5 and 0.3mm lead mechanical pencils. I canNOT draw with a regular woodandgraphite pencil anymore, for some reason.
For digital: My Wacom Intuous tablet, Mr. Smickers. Its still kinda new, but I love this thing so much. I can't imagine life without it.

★Your favorite color/the color that you use a lot?
I...don't really know. Pink?

★Your favorite style(s)?
Well I can't say a particular style like "comic book" or "realism" because the styles I like aren't really like that. I can name ARTISTS whose styles I love though and they would be C.Lijewski, Miwa Shirow, Takeshi Obata and a bunch others.

★Are you satisfied with your current art?
I'm getting there...I still feel like there is a LOT that I need to learn and improve on, but I'm getting there...

★What kind of artist are you aiming for?
One who can do what she does without feeling insecure about it lol. I find myself being uncomfortable with/hating a lot of things that I draw and I don't like that. I'm hoping that one day I can be completely comfortable with my style.
I also have a bad habit of comparing myself to others and I REALLY need to stop that.
